Code of Conduct

Our events have lured participants due to their communal and safe feeling, in which everyone is welcome to join either alone or with their friends. We would like to continue this tradition in the future!

The prerequisite for participating in events is appropriate behaviour, and even if the feeling is rowdy at times, behaviour should still be on the ground. Let’s also remember that participating in events does not pose obstacles to next day’s studies and good behaviour.

Our events are discrimination and harassment free, and every student has the right to a safe and equal environment without any means of discrimination or bullying. Everyone has the freedom to be and join as they are.

The ABC of event behaviour

  • Do not bring own drinks to the restaurants. Do not steal bottles behind the bar.
  • Consider the other customers at restaurants. We are not alone.
  • Do not skip queues. Wait for your turn patiently.
  • Do not steal the organisers’ or restaurant’s property.
  • Littering the event areas, restaurants, or the surroundings is not part of proper behaviour:
    • Put your litter in trash bins.
  • Take bottles and cans with you or bring them next to the nearest bin.
  • Remember to drink enough water, eat properly, and take rest.
  • Know your own limits.
  • Take care of your friends and other students.
  • Help those who ask or need help.
  • No one is left out or alone.

Remember that inappropriate or rule-breaking behaviour entitles the restaurants to remove the person from their properties. With good behaviour, we will continue to guarantee meaningful events and the interest of restaurants to collaborate with us.

In case you experience harassment or inappropriate behaviour

Notify the arranging party or restaurant’s staff. In case of an emergency, seek help.

The Student Union KAMO has two harassment liaison persons (female and male gender representatives) who have been inducted for the task, operate on a confidential principle and are bound by secrecy. They listen and steer forward if necessary. The purpose of harassment liaison activities is to prevent and eliminate inappropriate treatment at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences.

Remember that you can contact the harassment liaison persons on low threshold via email: hairinta@kamk.fi. If you wish, you can write in the title field whether you want to address the message to the female or male gender representative. More information about the harassment officer work.

Let’s ensure safe events for everyone together!
